Purpose
This Safeguarding and People Protection Policy establishes guidelines to prevent risks, guide conduct and respond responsibly to situations that may place people in vulnerability, insecurity or embarrassment.
Its purpose is to ensure that all activities of ONG É Por Amor are conducted with respect for human dignity, comprehensive protection, care, ethics and institutional responsibility.
Scope
This policy applies to all people who act on behalf of ONG É Por Amor, participate in its activities, represent the organization or maintain an institutional relationship with its projects.
- Leaders, staff, volunteers and service providers.
- Institutional partners, supporting companies, suppliers and visitors.
- Beneficiaries, families served and people in situations of vulnerability.
- Children, adolescents, older adults, people with disabilities and other groups requiring special protection.
- In-person activities, street actions, community activities, campaigns, events, photographic records, institutional communication and digital interactions.
Protection principles
The work of ONG É Por Amor must observe principles that protect the dignity of the people served and strengthen trust in institutional relationships.
Protection of people served
ONG É Por Amor must adopt measures to reduce risks and prevent situations of abuse, neglect, exploitation, harassment, intimidation, embarrassment, physical, psychological, moral or institutional violence, or any practice that violates rights.
Every social activity must be conducted with listening, care, respect for individual boundaries and special attention to people in greater situations of vulnerability.
- Approaches must preserve the autonomy, privacy and dignity of the people served.
- Social assistance must not be conditioned on favors, exposure, religious behavior, political position, image disclosure or any form of personal exchange.
- Interactions with children and adolescents must occur in an institutional context, with responsibility, transparency and reinforced care.
- Risk situations noticed during activities must be reported to the leadership of ONG É Por Amor.
Prohibited conduct
Conduct that places people at risk, exploits vulnerabilities or compromises the dignity of the people served is expressly prohibited.
- Any form of abuse, exploitation, harassment, humiliation, threat or intimidation.
- Discriminatory, offensive, aggressive, embarrassing or degrading treatment.
- Using the vulnerability of beneficiaries to obtain personal, financial, emotional, political, religious or institutional advantage.
- Improper exposure of people served, especially children, adolescents and people experiencing homelessness.
- Inappropriate, invasive, insistent or non-institutional contact with beneficiaries.
- Promises, demands, charges or conditioning social assistance on any kind of favor.
- Use of language, posture, image records or approaches that turn suffering into appeal, spectacle or public embarrassment.
- Sharing data, images, stories or personal information without a legitimate purpose, proper authorization or institutional care.
Use of image, stories and personal data
The disclosure of images, accounts, videos or information about people served must respect their dignity, privacy, safety and life context.
The institutional communication of ONG É Por Amor must avoid emotional exploitation, exposure of suffering or any narrative that reduces people served to their vulnerability.
- Avoid images that expose suffering, embarrassment, degrading situations or extreme fragility.
- Seek authorization whenever possible for the use of image, voice, name, story or personal account.
- Take special care with images of children and adolescents, avoiding improper identification, sensitive exposure or use out of context.
- Do not disclose sensitive personal data without necessity, proper basis or consent compatible with the purpose.
- Ensure that photos, videos and personal accounts are used for transparency, institutional memory and accountability, never to exploit vulnerability.
